Large-scale research infrastructure

Second call for large-scale research infrastructure (2009 - 2010)

Current status : closed

Large-scale research infrastructure (Hercules 3 initiatives) is defined as research infrastructure with a total financing cost of at least EUR 1,500,000 (including the non-refundable portion of VAT). Total financing cost involves all subsidisable costs requested in the proposal.

The Hercules Foundation published the second call for large-scale research infrastructure on April 2, 2009 and the applications had to be submitted on October 1, 2009.

For this call for large –scale research infrastructure, the budgets for 2009 and 2010 have been combined. This implies an overall budget of EUR 10,000,000 with an unaltered policy.

Twelve applications were submitted, for which EUR 35,200,000 of subsidies were requested. Eleven applications were submitted by a consortium or a partnership with third parties. One proposal is submitted by only one institution and six are submitted in cooperation with companies.

The assessment procedure of the submitted proposals is now initiated. The final decision by the Hercules Foundation’s Board of Directors is expected by the end of March 2010.
